Urban Legend | The Bunnyman

The Bunnyman

The Bunnyman is an urban legend about a psychiatric patient who escaped and haunted a bridge in Clifton, Virginia.

After the Fairfax Country civil war, Virginia became more populated than before and there was a mental hospital built there. However, no one wanted to live near the asylum because of public atrocities, the mental hospital was closed.

The administration moved a patient and in 1904. During the transfer, several patients managed to escape and hide around the forest. These escape patients are really crazy, delusional (a psychological illness) and really dangerous. Most of them are again found except, Marcus Lawster and Douglas Griffen. Authorities found a trail believed to be theirs, and littered with half-eaten and mutilated rabbits.

The trail leads into the forest leading to a pedestrian bridge that crosses the wide river. There they find Marcus hanging at the entrance to the tunnel. And there is a note attached to her that says, "You will never find me, no matter how hard you try! Marked, The Bunny-Man." The tunnel was also named the Bunny Man Bridge, ever since.

Legend says if you walk in the tunnel alone at midnight, Bunny Man will catch you and hang you at the bridge entrance.

Unreasonable deaths and unnatural phenomena around the scene of this incident are connected to the Bunny Man Bridge. There was a young man from Clifton, Virginia who crossed the bridge while traveling. Then, he killed his parents and dragged his parents' bodies to the forest and hung their bodies on the bridge and then he killed himself. In 1943, three teenagers, two men and a young girl, they were on the Bunny Man Bridge for Halloween night. The three teenagers were found dead, hanging on the bridge with their bodies slashed open, all of them having notes attached to their feet that read, "You will never catch the Bunny Man!".

In 2001, after hearing the story, six local students and a guide were searching the area. They found a part of the rabbit that was mutilated during the search and then they left the forest after they heard a sound and saw a figure moving inside the forest.
